Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Puntarenas Costa Rica is one of the most polarizing cities in the entire country. While it"s hard to say anything bad about most locations in Costa Rica, being the country"s main port and one of its main urban areas has given the city somewhat of a maligned reputation. A shaky strip of land that juts into the Golfo de Nicoyo, it is surrounded on all sides by a tropical paradise, but the city itself is a twisted collection of rust and bleach. Though the shipping industry that brought great wealth to the area dried up years ago, Puntarenas Costa Rica was one of the last places within the country to embrace tourism as a potential route for economic growth. Only recently have many of the city"s accommodations popped up along the city shores, many of them luxury buildings such as the Fiesta Resort Puntarenas.

But for all the streets left in semi-decay, there is a certain crumbling beauty to the city, most evident in the scraped architecture that hints at the city"s importance a hundred years ago. Puntarenas Costa Rica sightseeing is certainly different from the rest of the country that has tried so hard to convert everything imaginable into postcard perfect sights, but the city"s resignation is sadly striking in its own way.

The city"s accessibility is one of its main drawing points. Within just a few hours, you can land in San Jose and have already begun your travels here, along the scenic Pacific coast. The outlying region from the city is another main draw, and Puntrarenas Costa Rica sightseeing can include the Manuel Antonio National Park, the Carara Biological Reserve, plus trips across Golfo de Nicoyo, tours of the nearby Cocos Island and a short trip south to the famous Jaco beach. The Fiesta Resort Puntarenas is also a popular spot, as it includes the country"s finest casino, along with offering many types of all-inclusive packages to its visitors. The reputations of neighboring hotels help however, as this is the closest to seedy the western region gets. But that will be the least of your worries if you stay in the Fiesta Resort Puntarenas.

Part of the city"s cultural renaissance has been the inclusion of the newly developed Pacific marine Park, a likable stop of any Puntarenas Costa Rica sightseeing tour, with 28 separate tanks doing their best to recreate what lies below the surface of Costa Rica"s Pacific coast. Nearby, you can also charter a boat to take you to the wildly popular Tortuga Island, far and away the most beautiful spot in this region. The most significant cultural landmark in the city is the museum which focuses on the region"s historical relationship with the nearby ecosystems.

Cozumel Island

Cozumel Mexico is the biggest island in Mexico, located on the Yucatan Peninsula (East side of México, in the Caribbean) with an extension of 392 square km, 28 miles long and 10 miles wide. It is separated from the Yucatan Peninsula by the Yucatan channel which is 12 miles wide. Cozumel is located on 20° 31′ lat N and 86° 56′ long W.
The town of Cozumel is called San Miguel. Most of the population of the Island resides in the town of San Miguel, on the west coast of the Island facing mainland.
Cozumel, with a population of a little over 95,000, now welcomes more than 4,000,000 visitors every year and is considered one of the most important tourist destinations in México. With Luxury hotels and first class facilities and services, Cozumel offers its visitors a wide variety of things to do and places to stay. Cozumel is world renowned for its diving because of the second largest reef in the world, and attracts SCUBA lovers from all over the world all year long.
With a subtropical climate the average temperature is about 27°C – 80°F, and because Cozumel is surrounded by water the climate is always humid often around 90%, but often breezy too. All year round you will be able to find sunny days with the usually warm waters. Rainfall is rare apart from during the rainy season (September- November) when showers can be frequent but not disruptive.
Cozumel is perfect for simply relaxing on the beach in one of the many beach resorts on the west side of the island or the more deserted beaches on the east side (but beware of dangerous currents when swimming on the east side). The strong tourist industry means you are spoilt for choice for shops, bars and restaurants where you can find many bargains and avoid paying tax on luxury items.
Water sports are very popular in Cozumel, with scuba diving on the island’s beautiful coral reefs being the most practiced. It is also possible to sports fish, sail, snorkel, surf, cycle or hike on and around the island and many other excursions in Cozumel. The island is also host to a Nicklaus designed golf course.
